Farnborough Airport Expansion – update
On 10 October we published a briefing note for residents covering the consultation for the expansion plans at Farnborough airport.
Full details of the current plans can be found on the Farnborough Airport Ltd consultation website https://farnboroughairport2040.com
The formal planning application has now been lodged with Rushmoor Borough Council (23/00794/REVPP) and can be found on the Rushmoor planning portal https://www.rushmoor.gov.uk/planning-and-building-control/farnborough-airport/farnborough-airport-planning-application where you can submit any comments you may have. The deadline is 17 December 2023.
There have already been 216 comments submitted including 171 objections and 39 supporting the application.
Whilst there have been some changes to the plans used for the consultation the direction of the application remains the same – namely:
- to increase flights from 50,000 to 70,000
- to increase non-weekday aircraft movements from 8,900 to 18,900 per annum
- to amend the “heavy” aircraft weight category of 50,000 – 80,000 Kg, to 55,000 – 80,000 Kg
- an increase from 1,500 to 2,100 annual aircraft movements within this category, including an increase from 270 to 570 annual aircraft movements for non-weekdays.
At the consultation stage Hart District Council submitted an excellent response which whilst now slightly out of date remains a summary of their likely position to this planning application. A copy of this is on the Dogmersfield Parish Council website in the “notices” section.
You are encouraged to consider this application and submit comments whether you agree or disagree with it to ensure the planning authorities are as fully informed as possible of local opinion.
